Fredenburg earned seven letters at UWM, four in football and three in basketball. As a split end and defensive back, he earned MVP honors in 1967 and '68 and was named the recipient of the Herman Kluge Award as the outstanding athlete in 1968. Fredenburg was sixth in the NCAA for receiving in 1966 and '67. As an All- League defensive back, he led the West Allis Spartans to the Central State Touch Football League championship. He made All- American in touch football in 1976-79 and was named the outstanding player in the 1979 National Tournament.
