Nick Davis was one of the most prolific high jumpers and javelin throwers in Horizon League history. A 10-time Horizon League champion, Davis hit the ground running by being named league newcomer of the year after winning two titles as a freshman. He would go on to sweep all four outdoor high jump titles and all four javelin crowns during his Panther career – still the only person to win the javelin championship all four years. In fact, he graduated with school and league records in outdoor high jump (6-10 ¾) and javelin (188-4), as well as tied for the school record in indoor high jump (6-11 ½).
Davis capped his career by being named the Horizon League Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Outdoor Performer of the Year in 2004. That year he helped the program win both the indoor and outdoor league titles, helping spark a nine-year run of capturing both crowns by Milwaukee. In all, Davis was part of five league-championship teams in his four years on campus.
He was also a standout in the classroom, being named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team four times as well as being named a Scholar-Athlete with Distinction.
After finishing his bachelor's degree, Davis stayed on campus to earn his master's in kinesiology and has published numerous journals and given presentations in academic settings around the world. He has since gone on to coach at Cedarburg High School and Marquette University before landing at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was named the USTFCCCA Outdoor Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015.
