Ehrke is the first female inductee into the UWM Athletic Hall of Fame, first female All-American and was named the Most Valuable Woman Athlete of the Year at UWM in 1974. She held school records in the 50- and 100- yard breaststroke, 100- yard backstroke, and was a member of the 200- yard medley, 200- yard freestyle and 400- yard freestyle relay teams, which held school records. In 1974, she qualified for the U.S. swimming nationals, placing 31st in the nation. As a coach at UWM from 1976-1984, Ehrke produced 15 All-Americans who earned over 50 awards.
