A four-year letterwinner in track, Piotruszewicz captained the team in 1974 and 1975. He was voted Most Valuable Track Athlete and set four track records during his career. He was the U.S. Track and Field champion in the long jump and triple jump five times. He was also a four-time Wisconsin AAU champion and eight-time triple jump champion.
