Jahnke won eight letters - four in track, three in cross country and one in basketball. He was a member of four state college championship teams and four state indoor championship teams. He was a teacher and coach for 37 years in the Brown Deer School District and, in 1992, received the Badger Meter Award as Brown Deer Middle Schools Teacher of the Year.
