A 230-pound tackle at University of Wisconsin's Milwaukee Extension, Hansen played on Coach Bill Ritter's 20-man team and was twice named All-Conference in the Badger-Illinois Conference. Hansen obtained both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in metallurgical engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
