Gerald Grohowski, on Coach Russ Rebholz's team, scored 1,684 points in his four years to be the top scorer in UWM history at the time. During his career (1958-61), UWM won 56 and lost 27 and was selected to play in a NCAA regional, based on a 17-3 regular season record. He was named WSC All-Conference three times and received small college honorable mention in 1961. He also lettered in football. Since obtaining his bachelor's degree in art, he has served as an officer in the U.S. Army and has commanded infantry, cavalry and armored units. He received a master's degree from the University of Alabama in journalism and was public affairs officer during a two-year tour of RVN.
