Bezold was a member of the cross country and track team from 1979-83 and he was captain the last three years of his career. He set school records in the 400-meters, mile relay, 300-yard dash, 440-yard dash, 880 relay and 400 medley relay. In 1983 he was selected to the NCAA All-America team.
