Jablonski earned nine letters at Milwaukee State Teachers College. A member of conference championship teams in both football and basketball, he was awarded the MSTC Blanket Award for his gridiron and court exploits, as well as performances in track. He also served as president of his junior and senior class. Jablonski was a member of the U.S. Army Special Services and returned from WWII to obtain a Master's degree. He rose from an apprenticeship to top management positions at Allis-Chalmers and Joy Manufacturing Company.
