Under Coach John Tierney, Dobbs led UWM to five straight state conference championships. Three times he won both the high and low state conference titles and established new records for both the conference and Baker Fieldhouse. He established a solid Milwaukee Track Club and it won AAU championships for 11 years after his graduation. Dobbs received his masters degree from UWM in 1973.
