Gother won seven letters during 1929 and 1930. He was an all- conference player in football and basketball, along with earning awards as the most outstanding golfer and wrestler. During his football career, Gother never played on the losing side in a football game. After graduation in 1932, he had a successful career before retiring from Whitefish Bay High School after 20 years of working in the guidance department.
