Ericka (Malterer) King helped spark the stellar tradition of Panther volleyball with her strong play during a standout four-year career at UWM. Her team accomplishments include three Midwestern Collegiate Conference regular season championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances. Individually, King earned all-league honors four times, being named to the all-league second team in 1996 and 1997 before earning first-team all-league honors in 1998 and 1999. She was also the 1996 MCC Newcomer of the Year and was named to the All-Midwest Region squad by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association in both 1998 and 1999.
King also starred in post-season play, earning league all-tournament team honors in both 1998 and 1999 while being honored as the 1998 MCC Tournament most valuable player. She remains the school's Division I leader in kills while standing fourth on the school's digs list. King was also a standout in the classroom. She was a regular on UWM's Dean's List and was a UWM Scholar Athlete. She also earned First-Team GTE Academic All-America honors and was a Gold Key nominee.
