A starting guard for four seasons, Dunar was named All-Conference and was a member of one of Milwaukee State Teachers College's championship football teams. A former captain on the gridiron, Dunar began coaching and teaching at Lincoln Junior and Senior High Schools after serving in the Coast Guard in World War II. Dunar extended his work into the community by working with the Boys' Club and the Grace Lutheran Church of Thiensville, Wis.
