Polakowski earned 12 major letters at UWM throughout his career. As a middleweight wrestler, Polakowski posted a winning record and in 1959, he was presented with the Kibbe Award. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Kappa fraternity and a state champion in wrestling while at South Division.
