MILWAUKEE - A group of former Milwaukee men's basketball players once again needs your help in order to qualify for the 2018 TBT.
The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is an open-application, single-elimination tournament played each summer in the USA, currently featuring 72 teams. It was founded in 2014 by Jonathan Mugar and will again have a winner-take-all, $2 million championship game that will be played on ESPN.
Ed McCants (2003-05 at Milwaukee), the 2004-05 Horizon League Player of the Year who led the Panthers to the NIT in 2004 and the NCAA Tournament in 2005 after averaging 17.4 points a game, is again serving as the Team General Manager for the squad named the "Banner Boys".
The team competed a year ago after fans helped the team qualify, winning its first-round game in thrilling fashion when Boo Davis sank a putback with 1.2 seconds remaining for a 61-59 victory. The Banner Boys were voted as the No. 20 team in the final rankings from 2017.
