Amir Allen Signs With Milwaukee Men’s Basketball

Joins the Panthers from Northern Oklahoma College

MILWAUKEE – Amir Allen has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Milwaukee men's basketball team, head coach Pat Baldwin officially announced today.

"Amir is a great addition to our program and provides valuable depth to our frontline," Baldwin said. "Amir has the ability shoot from the perimeter, score with his back to the basket and use his athleticism to finish at the rim."

Allen comes to Milwaukee following one season at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

"Amir comes from a very good program, has a tremendous work ethic and will impact winning for our program," Baldwin said. "He has all the ingredients of character and integrity that fit in great with our basketball culture."

Allen enjoyed a tremendous freshman campaign with the Mavericks, appearing in all 32 games as the team went 24-8 overall, seeing its season end in a three-point heartbreaker in the NJCAA Region 2 Semifinals.

The 6-foot-8-inch Allen found his way into the starting lineup quickly. He ended up making 27 starts, shooting an impressive 63.1 percent (147-of-233) from the floor. He averaged 11.8 points-per-game, getting to the free throw line 141 times and connecting on 85 of those attempts. He added 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and nearly a steal per contest.

Allen scored in double-figures in 22 games, with a season-high 23 points coming in a victory over Link Year Prep Nov. 21. He also recorded six double-doubles, grabbing as many as 14 rebounds in a game on the campaign.

As a prep, Allen was named 2015-16 All Daily Record Boys Basketball Player of the Year after leading Morris Catholic to three straight league titles overall. He averaged 22.8 points, 13.2 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game, which were all county highs.
