Rechlicz Looks Back On 2017-18 Season

Team finished with 21-12 record, advancing to WNIT Second Round

MILWAUKEE – Two weeks after the Milwaukee women's basketball team closed out another memorable season, head coach Kyle Rechlicz sat down with the Black & Gold Network to talk about the season that was.

There were certainly plenty of highs for this year's Panther squad, with the pinnacle coming right at the end with a memorable win at Northern Iowa in an impressive showing in the WNIT.

Milwaukee also racked up an impressive 21 wins – marking just the third time in the Division I era UWM has reached that many wins in a season. Many of those wins were notable for a variety of ways, including:
  • Taking down a pair of Big Ten opponents for the first time in program history with wins at both Northwestern and Wisconsin
  • Recording five comeback wins when trailing by 10-or-more points in a game
  • Notching six wins over opponents that were ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 at some point in the season
  • Winning a postseason game for the second-straight year

The Panthers also once again had numerous individual accolades, as well. Jenny Lindner and Steph Kostowicz were both named to the All-Horizon League Second Team. Joined by fellow seniors Kelsey Cunningham and Bailey Farley, those four make up the winningest senior class in program history – graduating with 72 wins over their four-year careers.
