MILWAUKEE - It is "Suits & Sneakers Week", as head coach
Pat Baldwin and his entire staff will wear sneakers with their suits during Thursday's contest against Youngstown State as well as Saturday's game against Cleveland State to raise awareness about the fight against cancer.
The "Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers Week" is a nationwide event running January 23-29 that unites basketball coaches across the country to raise awareness about the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission, and promote the American Cancer Society as a place for help and support.
While coaching games during the week, coaches will wear sneakers with their game attire as a visible reminder about the importance of nutrition and physical activity in reducing cancer risk.
As a special promotion during "Suits And Sneakers Week", and continuing while supplies last through the end of the college basketball season, fans will have the opportunity to purchase a specially-designed pair of laces online or in stores from Shoe Carnival in memory of Lacey Holsworth. Holsworth was the 8-year old who gained national media attention through her relationship with the Michigan State basketball team during the 2013-14 season.
Funds raised will go to the Coaches vs. Cancer program and Princess Lacey's Legacy, to continue the fight against pediatric cancer. Stop at any Shoe Carnival store or purchase online for $2.99 at
