MILWAUKEE - Brett Prahl of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been honored by the Horizon League for his work both in the classroom and on the court.
Â
The Horizon League announced Thursday the Academic All-League Team for men's basketball with five student-athletes being recognized.
Â
Prahl has seized the opportunity he has gotten with increased playing time this season. With postseason play set to begin tomorrow, he checks in at 6.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per game (in 19.2 mpg), which he has upped to 8.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest in Horizon League play.
Â
His currently holds the highest overall field-goal percentage of any player in the Horizon League at .672 (.718 league-only), which is on pace to break UWM single-season record.
Â
An accounting major, Prahl carries a 3.67 grade-point average in the classroom.
Â
Prahl was joined by Drew McDonald (Northern Kentucky), Sherron Dorsey-Walker (Oakland), Alec Peters (Valparaiso) and Matt Donlan (Youngstown State).
Â
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.
Â
A faculty athletics representative (FAR) from each school casted their vote by ballot in deciding who would be awarded Academic All-League honors.
