Pozolinski Named Second Team All-American

Hurdler finishes 14th in the nation

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Nate Pozolinski of the Milwaukee men's track & field team was named Second Team All-American Friday evening at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Texas A&M inside Gilliam Indoor Stadium.

This is the second All-American honor for the Panther senior after being named Honorable Mention All-American during the 2016 outdoor season in the 110m hurdles.

Pozolinski finished 14^th overall against the best in the country, just missing a top-eight spot to advance to Saturday's final.

The result was somewhat frustrating, as Pozolinski got out of the blocks with an incredible start, but that run was cut short as the gun rang twice to signal a false start on one of the other runners.

After the first heat regrouped, the second run went cleanly with Pozolinski finishing the heat seventh overall in 8.03 seconds.

"Nate has certainly made us all very proud," Milwaukee head coach Pete Corfeld said. "He got a great start at the first try and didn't get out quite as well after the restart. It's unfortunate, but what an amazing accomplishment just to earn his way here and to finish Second Team All-American. We're all proud of him and he'll take this experience to outdoors and I'm sure he will make use of it."

This closes out a remarkable indoor season for the Kimberly, Wis. native that saw him break the school 60m hurdle record, win a league title in long jump and finish on the podium in all four of his individual events at the Horizon League Championships just two weeks ago.

With Pozolinski's finish, this marks the fourth time in the last three national championships with a Milwaukee student-athlete earning All-American honors.

This concludes Milwaukee's indoor season. The 2017 outdoor campaign will get underway March 25 at the Edmonds Invite in Rensselaer, Ind. starting at 10 am.
