Odegard, Kostowicz Earn All-League Honors

Duo played big part in Milwaukee’s 19 wins this year

MILWAUKEE – Steph Kostowicz and Lizzie Odegard both picked all-league honors Tuesday as the Horizon League announced its postseason awards as voted on by league coaches, sports information directors and local media.

For the second-straight year, Kostowicz receives high praise from the conference. The junior – who reached both the 1,000-point and 500-rebound milestones earlier this season – was named Second Team All League after leading the team in both scoring with 15.2 points/game, rebounding at 7.9/game and blocks with 37 on the season.

Kostowicz was especially big in Milwaukee's outstanding start as the program was ranked the No. 20 in the College Insider Mid-Major poll, notching eight double-doubles in the team's first 13 games of the year.

Meanwhile, the awards are piling up for Odegard, who was named Horizon League Freshman of the Week three times this year. On Tuesday she was named to the league's all-freshman squad after consistently being Milwaukee's first player off the bench all season. The Minnetonka, Minn. native finished the year averaging 5.0 points/game and 4.1 rebounds/game.

Even more impressively, the newcomer transitioned her game from a dominant post player in high school to a legitimate perimeter threat at the college level while connecting on nearly 50 percent of her shots from outside the arc on the year.
