Panthers Are Fifth Seed At Motor City Madness

Open tourney against Oakland Sunday

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's basketball team has earned the fifth seed for the upcoming Horizon League Women's Basketball Tournament and will take on fourth seed Oakland in a quarterfinal matchup Sunday afternoon from Joe Louis Arena in downtown Detroit.

The contest is scheduled to tip off at 1:30 pm Central Time and can been streamed live online through ESPN3.

This year's league tournament features a new format. One year after the men moved their league tournament to a neutral location in Detroit, the Horizon League announced the women's tournament would also move to the Motor City. In fact, this year's tournament will feature both men's and women's games each day, starting Friday, Mar. 3.

A Milwaukee win on Sunday would see the team turn around and play at Noon Central Time on Monday. Green Bay would likely be the opponent in that contest, as the top-seeded Phoenix receive a bye before taking on the winner of the 8/9 contest between Youngstown State and Valparaiso.

The tournament championship is scheduled for 11 am on Tuesday and will be televised live on ESPNU.

Both single-session and all-session tickets are available, starting at just $15. Tickets are available through TicketMaster or by calling the Panther Ticket Office at 414-229-5886.
