Lindner Earns Horizon League Honors

Junior helped lead Milwaukee to two home wins last week

MILWAUKEEJenny Lindner of the Milwaukee women's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Lindner helped UWM to a pair of big home wins last week as the Panthers now hold a 9-5 league record with four games left on the schedule.

This is the third such conference honor for Lindner and the second already this season.

First, on Thursday, Lindner was nearly flawless from the floor in shooting 6-8 from the floor and 4-4 from the free-throw line against Youngstown State to finish with 17 points and nine rebounds – just shy of her fifth double-double of the season.

The hot shooting continued Saturday against Cleveland State as the Neillsville, Wis. native went off for a game-high 25 points on 8-12 shooting – including 3-6 from behind the arc and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe – as Milwaukee notched a big win over the Vikings.

The special week continued for Lindner last week as, on Saturday, she was recognized before the game for scoring her 1,000th career point earlier this season. That came just two days after she recorded her 500th career rebound, becoming just the 13th player in program history to reach both milestones in their career.

Up next for Milwaukee, the Panthers host in-state rival Green Bay Friday at 7 pm from the Klotsche Center.
