Milwaukee Women’s Basketball Again Cracks Mid-Major Poll

Panthers move into Top-25 after another win, now 7-2 on the season

MILWAUKEE – For the second straight year, the Milwaukee women's basketball team earned recognition from Mid-Major college coaches, with the Panthers cracking the Top-25 in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Women's Basketball Poll.

After receiving votes last week, the Panthers have climbed up to No. 25 this week after wins over Illinois State and Fort Wayne.

Milwaukee has now won an impressive seven in a row and sits at 7-2 on the young season. UWM has a number of impressive victories during its current win streak, including road wins over Northwestern (66-57) and at fellow Mid-Major-ranked Western Illinois (77-67).

Head coach Kyle Rechlicz has her team firing on all cylinders early this season after back-to-back postseason appearances each of the last two seasons.

A pair of UWM players have already been named Horizon League Player of the Week in this season's early going, with Steph Kostowicz earning the inaugural award this season, with Jenny Lindner also gaining recognition after a career-high 34-point, 10-rebound performance at Western Illinois.

The Panthers are one of four programs from the Horizon League in this week's poll, joining Wright State, Green Bay and league newcomer IUPUI.

Milwaukee has a pair of in-state rivalry games this week, heading to Madison to take on the Badgers Thursday before returning home for a Sunday 4pm matinee against Marquette live on FOX Sports Wisconsin.
