Levy Signs With Milwaukee Women’s Basketball

Highly touted prep player to join the Panthers in 2018

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's basketball team has added yet another in-state standout to its 2018 freshman class, head coach Kyle Rechlicz announced Friday.

Sydney Levy of Oshkosh, Wis. has signed her National Letter of Intent and will join the Panthers next fall.

"Sydney is a deep-range, dominant shooter who has proven that she knows what it takes to win," Rechlicz said. "She comes from a basketball family, which makes her on-court IQ very high. Her love for the game and her passion for consistent improvement will help her make the adjustment to college basketball very smooth."

A 5-foot-8 guard, Levy is one of the top ranked players in the state of Wisconsin. She helped Appleton North High School to an undefeated record last year, bringing home the gold ball with a perfect 28-0 record. Levy was a huge part of the Lightning's success last year, averaging over 18.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She set school records in points (517), rebounds (241) and three-pointers (61) last year, as well as career records for rebounds (445) and threes (117). Levy's play garnered a host of high praise, including WBCA First Team All-State, AP First Team All-State, All-USA Wisconsin Girls Basketball Player of the Year and the Fox Valley Association Conference, Appleton Post Crescent, FOX11 All-Area Player of the Year.

That all comes one year after trip to the state semifinals as a sophomore, even though she missed the first 15 games with a torn ACL. Despite the injury, Levy returned to action and still averaged over 10 points and four rebounds per contest to once again help the Lightning to the state tournament.
