Lindner Named League Player Of The Week

Senior set career-high 34 points in big road win

MILWAUKEE – Following a career game on Sunday, Jenny Lindner of the Milwaukee women's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

This marks the first time this season and the fourth time in her career that Lindner has been named the league's top player for the week.

Lindner was a huge part of Milwaukee's big road win at Western Illinois on Sunday. The senior poured in a career-high 34 points – including 21 in the second half – to help flip a 13-point deficit in the third quarter into a 10-point win. She also corralled a game-high 10 rebounds for her second double-double on the young season.

The effort is even more impressive considering the opponent as WIU entered the game ranked in the mid-major poll. The Leathernecks went 13-1 on their home court a year ago, finished with 26 wins in all on their way to the NCAA Tournament and returned all five starters.

Lindner also was a key part of Milwaukee's win over Loyola earlier in the week. Despite playing just 21 minutes, the 6-foot forward netted 12 points to go with one block and one steal in the home win.

UWM returns to its home court this Friday, playing host to North Dakota State at 7pm inside the Klotsche Center.
