Panthers Will Head To New Orleans For WNIT Consolation Rounds

Milwaukee will play Houston Friday at 5pm

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's basketball team will head to New Orleans, La. for the consolation rounds of the prestigious Preseason WNIT, the tournament office announced Saturday.

UWM will open up against Houston Friday evening at 5pm, before playing either host New Orleans or CSUN Saturday afternoon.

Milwaukee opened up the 2017 Preseason WNIT with a narrow 77-73 loss at Drake Friday evening, in what proved to be the closest game in the tournament's opening round. Steph Kostowicz turned in a monster performance of 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead all players in both categories.

Houston enters Friday's game following an 83-65 loss to Texas A&M in College Station. CSUN suffered a 91-43 loss at No. 11 Oregon, while host New Orleans kicked off their season with a 66-57 loss at Louisiana.

The Panthers have never played any of the other three programs on their side of the bracket.
