Former track & field standout recognized by national publication

MILWAUKEE – The national recognition continues for Taylor Koss.

The former Milwaukee track & field standout and recent Panther graduate has been selected as one of Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd" in the October 9 issue that is on newsstands now.

The magazine recognized Koss for his tremendous efforts on the track over the last few months, including his efforts with Team USA at the 2017 Deaflympic Games this past July in Samsun, Turkey.

Koss won a pair of medals for the Red, White and Blue at this summer's games, bringing home a bronze in the 400m hurdles (53.75), as well as the 200m (22.71).

That comes after the Green Bay-native broke his own national deaf record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.27 in his final collegiate race with Milwaukee.

Koss had an incredible four-year career with the Panthers, winning three Horizon League titles and was named second-team all-conference four times.

This isn't the first time Koss has been highlighted in the national media, garnering quite a bit of attention last fall when he was featured on ABC's World News Tonight "America Strong" segment.

Koss is the fifth Panther to be recognized in Sports Illustrated's weekly segment, joining fellow former track athlete Trentin Edwards (June, 2006), former baseball player Mike Goetz (May, 2006), former swimmer Lindsey Caldwell (January, 2006) and former men's soccer player Antou Jallow (December, 2004).
