Odegard Again Honored By Horizon League

Freshman helped Milwaukee to two road wins last week

MILWAUKEE - Lizzie Odegard of the Milwaukee women's basketball team has been named Horizon League Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Odegard helped UWM to a pair of road wins at UIC and Valparaiso last week, and has now been selected as the league's top freshman three times this season.

The Minnetonka, Minn., native started her week on Thursday at UIC, going a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc, while also recording two rebounds, one block and one assist in the road win.

Then, on Saturday, Odegard was a big part of the Panthers' come-from-behind win at Valpo. With foul trouble and cold shooting to start the game, Odegard came off the bench to help give UWM a big lift - hitting three threes in the first quarter alone to help keep the game close early before the comeback win. In all, the newcomer finished with 11 points, four rebounds, one assist and one block in the 11-point win.

Milwaukee returns to the court for a busy homestand, starting Wednesday at 7 pm by welcoming Oakland to the Klotsche Center.
