Women’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule

Season opener set for Nov. 13

MILWAUKEE – Head coach Kyle Rechlicz has announced the non-conference portion of the 2016-17 Milwaukee women's basketball schedule today.

This year's highlights include opening the season at home, hosting a pair of Big Ten foes and a trip to Vermont for a tournament over Thanksgiving.

"I'm excited to announce this year's non-conference schedule," Rechlicz said. "Our staff has done a tremendous job of creating a challenging, yet balanced schedule for us this season. Everyone has been working very hard – on and off the court – to prepare and I'm confident we'll be ready."

The Panthers will tip off the season Nov. 7 with a home exhibition game again UW-Parkside.

The official season opener comes just six days later when Milwaukee hosts Western Illinois from inside the Klotsche Center at on Nov. 13.

UWM hits the road for the first time for its next two contests, heading to Northern Illinois Nov. 16 and former league foe Loyola Nov. 20.

Then comes a big home game against in-state rival Wisconsin from the Klotsche Center Nov. 22.

Milwaukee then makes its first big trip of the season, heading to Vermont for a two-day tournament over the Thanksgiving weekend. The team will go up against LIU Brooklyn on Nov. 25, taking on either NJIT or the host Catamounts one day later as part of the TD Bank Classic.

Rechlicz's squad opens the month of December at home against North Dakota State Dec. 3.

From there, it's off to Normal, Ill. for a game against Illinois State Dec. 7.

Milwaukee closes out its non-conference schedule with three-straight games in town. The first is a Dec. 11 game against Big Ten opponent and fellow WNIT qualifier Northwestern from inside the Klotsche Center. Three days later, another Windy City foe comes to town in the form of Chicago State. The Panthers then head into Christmas break following a trip across town to take on Marquette Dec. 18 from the Al McGuire Center.
