Frank Goldsberry Promoted To Associate Head Coach

MILWAUKEE – Frank Goldsberry has been promoted to associate head coach for the Milwaukee women's basketball team, head coach Kyle Rechlicz announced Wednesday. Goldsberry is entering his fifth season coaching the up-and-coming Panther program.

"Frank is very deserving of the honor to be named Associate Head Coach," Rechlicz said. "He has been with me at Milwaukee from the beginning and he has helped me build every phase of our program. Not only have we brought a winning mentality back to UWM women's basketball, but we are doing it off the court, as well. That's shown by winning the athletic department community service award two out of the last four seasons and raising our GPA from a 2.6 cumulative before our arrival to a 3.2 last season.

"Frank's passion for basketball and for wanting Milwaukee to be successful is contagious. We are incredibly grateful to have him here on our staff and I know our team feels fortunate to have him as a mentor, as well."

Goldsberry joined the Panther staff in the summer of 2012 as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator and has been an integral part of Milwaukee's latest success.

The Panthers won 19 games this past season and earned a berth to the WNIT – the team's first postseason appearance in 10 seasons. All that comes after being picked ninth in the 10-team Horizon League preseason poll.

"I have the utmost respect for Coach Goldsberry," Milwaukee senior Jordyn Swan said. "He is one of the toughest coaches I have ever played for, but he clearly wants us to be successful. He deserves to be named Associate Head Coach because he always puts the team and coaching staff before himself. I am looking forward to my last season with him as my position coach and I am blessed to have had the opportunity to build such a strong mentoring relationship that I will cherish forever."

Goldsberry came to Milwaukee after working nine seasons in a variety of rolls at the University of Dayton. He has an impressive coaching resume, most notably putting together a 170-16 record from 1996-2003 at Chaminade-Julienne High School in Dayton, Ohio. He led C-J to two Ohio Division II state championships (1999, 2003) and to the USA Today's No. 1 ranking in the country in 2002. The Eagles were also state runners-up in 1998 and 2001.
