Lindner Lands Player Of The Week Honors

Sophomore scored a career-high 32 points Thursday

MILWAUKEE – After quite the memorable weekend, Jenny Lindner of the Milwaukee women's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Lindner helped Milwaukee wrap up a second-place finish for the Panthers, earning a double bye in this weekend's Horizon League Tournament.

This marks the first league honor of the season for Lindner and the third straight and fourth overall for Milwaukee as a team, with Sierra Ford-Washington earning the award just one week ago and Steph Kostowicz receiving the honor two weeks ago.

The sophomore guard had a career night on Thursday to help Milwaukee clinch the No. 2 seed. She poured in a career-high 32 points – including 16 in the final quarter – to help spark UWM past Oakland, 98-95. She was also big on the defensive end in that Panther win, grabbing six rebounds and three steals in 37 minutes of action.

Then, with the second seed already locked up, Lindner was again key for Milwaukee in a narrow loss at Detroit on Saturday. The Neillsville native had a team-high 20 points to go with seven rebounds and another three steals in just 29 minutes.

UWM will now wait until Friday night to find out who it will play in its Horizon League Tournament semifinal matchup, which is scheduled to tip off Saturday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. from the Kress Events Center.
