Kostowicz Named League Player of the Week

Sophomore led Milwaukee to pair of road wins

MILWAUKEE – Steph Kostowicz of the Milwaukee women's basketball team has once again been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced earlier Monday.

For the second time this season, Kostowicz was not only honored by the Horizon League office as the conference's top player, but also by College Sports Madness.

Milwaukee went 2-0 over the weekend after a pair of road wins and currently sits in third place with just two weeks left in the regular season.

Kostowicz was a big part of Milwaukee's success over the weekend. The sophomore started by posting a career-high 27 points to go with 12 rebounds and a pair of steals in a 70-60 win at Valparaiso.

Then, just two days later, Kostowicz was once again put her team on her back. Trailing by one at the half, the Oak Creek native poured in 20 of her game-high 24 points in the final 20 minutes to spark UWM to a 62-56 win at UIC. Making things even more impressive, Kostowicz was nearly perfect from the floor on Saturday, going 8-10 from the floor - including 1-1 from three - and 7-7 from the charity line.

Up next, Milwaukee returns home for its final home stand of the season, hosting Northern Kentucky Thursday at 7 p.m. from the Klotsche Center.
