Play-by-play of game winner selected as “Call of the Week”

MILWAUKEE – Scott Warras has called quite a few games for the Milwaukee women's basketball over the years. But Thursday's big UWM win in overtime might stand out just a little bit more now for the voice of the Panthers.

Warras' call of the Sierra Ford-Washington's game winner on Thursday was selected by the NCAA as the "Call of the Week," Friday afternoon.

In Thursday's game, the Panthers were trailing Cleveland State by one with just seconds left in overtime before Ford-Washington hit a tough jumper in the lane for her only basket of the game to send Milwaukee home a winner.

Warras set the scene for the viewers and listeners at home, closing it out with an emphatic "Milwaukee sends these kids home happy," as the Panthers celebrated their win in front of a crowd of more than 2,000 youths as part of the school day game.

This marks the second time the Panthers have garnered attention on the NCAA's website, with Steph Kostowicz being selected as one of the "Starting 5" earlier this year for her efforts on the court.

The Panthers are currently 13-9 overall and 7-4 in the Horizon League, holding sole possession of third place in the league standings.
