Milwaukee Women’s Basketball Earns First Ever Ranking

Panthers ranked 20th in College Insider Mid-Major Poll

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's basketball team has been on the rise and is starting to draw quite a bit of attention.

The Panthers cracked this week's College Insider Mid-Major Top-25 Poll for the first time this season, making their debut at No. 20. Not only does this mark the first time UWM has seen its name attached to the prestigious list in its seven-year history, but it also marks the first ranking of any kind for the program in its Division I history.

Milwaukee is 7-1 on the young season – the best start in the program's Division-I history. The Panthers already have numerous notable wins, including an 80-63 victory over in-state rival Wisconsin and a sweep of the TD Bank Classic Tournament in Vermont over the Thanksgiving weekend.

UWM will take put its six-game winning streak on the line this Sunday against another 7-1 team in Big Ten power Northwestern. That game is scheduled for a noon tip off from the Klotsche Center.
