Three Standouts Sign With Milwaukee Women’s Basketball

Panthers add trio for next season

MILWAUKEE – Three high school standouts have all signed their papers to join the Milwaukee women's basketball team at the start of the 2017 season, head coach Kyle Rechlicz announced Wednesday.

Brandi Bisping of Morton, Ill.; Alyssa Moore of Chicago, Ill.; and Sydney Staver of Mineral Point, Wis. have all signed their national letters of intent with the Panthers and will join the team next season.

"The 2017 class that we just signed brings some incredible depth to our already talented team," Rechlicz said. "As a whole, they are athletic and versatile which fits our Milwaukee system perfectly. This class also knows how to win and plays with a toughness that we have been pushing towards the last few seasons. I'm thrilled to add these amazing character individuals and their families to our Panther program!"

Bisping comes to Milwaukee with incredible success on the court in her first three years at Morton High School. She has led the Potters to back-to-back state titles, including a 33-3 record as a junior last season while averaging 14.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. The Peoria Journal Star Player of the Year also is a standout in volleyball, serving as an outside hitter and is a team captain.

"Brandi will play a crucial role for us at our hybrid guard-forward spot when she arrives on campus next season," Rechlicz said. "She plays much bigger than her height and has a quickness that we can utilize on the perimeter. One of her best attributes is her relentless mentality on the boards. I expect that she will bid for playing time very early in her career at Milwaukee."

Moore is a three-year varsity starter at Kenwood Academy in Chicago. As a junior, she averaged 11.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals. She helped the Broncos to a perfect record in conference play last year and a 24-7 mark overall before coming up just short in the sectional semifinal.

"Next season, when Alyssa arrives on campus, both Sierra (Ford-Washington) and Alexis (Lindstrom) will have graduated. We will have an immediate need for an athletic point guard and Alyssa Moore fits that role perfectly," Rechlicz said. "She is a playmaker who knows how to get her teammates the ball in positions of strength and she will be able to defend any player in our league full-court. "

Staver is another multi-sport athlete from in the state that has had tremendous success throughout. She helped the Pointers to a 26-2 overall record just last season on their way to grabbed the gold ball at the state tournament. Staver had a big hand in the teams' success at the state tournament, scoring 16 points in the semifinal before pouring in 20 in the championship game on 3-of-5 shooting from behind the arc. Staver is also a volleyball standout, helping Mineral Point to a conference title this fall with a 24-5 overall record.

"When we first set our sights on the 2017 class, our number one goal was to bring in one of the best players in the state of Wisconsin. We accomplished that today by signing Sydney Staver," Rechlicz said. "Sydney is a pure scorer. She will cause problems in our league with her ability to shoot from outside, take the ball to the rim off the dribble, and use her length on the glass. She brings size and depth to our wing positions."
