Lindner, Odegard Sweep League Honors

Duo played huge roll in three wins on the week

MILWAUKEE – Jenny Lindner and Lizzie Odegard of the Milwaukee women's basketball team have swept the Horizon League Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday.

Lindner was named the league's top player this past week, while Odegard was tabbed as the top freshman. Lindner also was named the top Horizon League player by College Sports Madness.

The league player of the week award is the first this season for Lindner and second in her career, while Odegard's freshman honor is already the second of her young career.

Lindner started her big week with a monster of a performance against in-state rival Wisconsin. The junior poured in a game-high 28 points and 11 rebounds as Milwaukee routed the Badgers by 17.

She followed that up out east, helping UWM win the TD Bank Classic in Burlington, Vt. with a pair of wins. On Friday, she had a game-high 17 points on 6-7 shooting to go with nine rebounds and five assists against LIU-Brooklyn, before adding another 12 points one day later against host Vermont. Lindner finished as the tournament's leading scorer with 29 points over the two days.

Meanwhile, Odegard was again big off the bench for the Panthers in their three wins. The freshman played 14 minutes in the huge win over Wisconsin, but saved her best for last. In the tournament championship, she posted a game-high 14 points on 6-8 shooting – including a perfect 2-2 from behind the arc – to go with seven rebounds in the 24-point championship win.

Milwaukee is now off to its best start in Division I history at 5-1 and will return to the court this Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 pm when they host North Dakota State from the Klotsche Center.
