Odegard Named League Freshman Of The Week

Newcomer wins award after inaugural collegiate game

MILWAUKEE – Lizzie Odegard of the Milwaukee women's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

The conference award is a first for Odegard after her first collegiate game on Sunday.

The Minnetonka, Minn. native was big off the bench for UWM in a 76-68 win to start the season 1-0. Odegard was big in the third quarter for the Panthers. After Western Illinois narrowed Milwaukee's big lead, the freshman came in for five points, five rebounds and one assist in 14 minutes to help wipe away any thought of a comeback.

Up next for the Panthers is a trip just across the state line, taking on Northern Illinois Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
