Milwaukee Announces 2015-16 Horizon League Schedule

Panthers close season with four straight home games

MILWAUKEE (September 3, 2015) – The Milwaukee men's basketball program will close out the 2015-16 regular season with four consecutive home games according to the Horizon League schedule released today. Prior to that season-ending stretch, the Panthers play nine of their previous 12 league games on the road.

Milwaukee raises the curtain on conference play when it hosts Wright State January 2, followed by the first-ever meeting with the newest member of the Horizon League, Northern Kentucky, two days later (Jan. 4).

From there, the Panthers embark on a four-game road swing, beginning with a journey to northeast Ohio for games at Youngstown State (Jan. 7) and Cleveland State (Jan. 9), before they return to the Midwest for contests at defending Horizon League champion Valparaiso (Jan. 14) and UIC (Jan. 16).

Following that four-game trip, Milwaukee reacquaints itself with UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena for three consecutive home games, starting with a January 23 showdown versus Detroit. Two nights later, the Panthers welcome Oakland to Panther Arena before playing their first game of the season against in-state rival Green Bay January 29.

Another long road trip, a five-game journey and Milwaukee's longest of the season, precedes the long homestand to close of the regular season. The Panthers open the second half of the Horizon League season by facing the same teams they do to open conference play, only this time paying visit to Wright State (Feb. 4) and Northern Kentucky (Feb. 6). One week later, Milwaukee treks east to Michigan for meetings with Oakland (Feb. 11) and Detroit (Feb. 13) before closing out the trip by traveling to Green Bay (Feb. 15) for a President's Day game that will air on ESPNU or exclusively on ESPN3.

Head coach Rob Jeter's squad puts the finishing touches on the 2015-16 regular season with four straight home games, its longest stretch of home league contests since 2008-09. Cleveland State (Feb. 20) pays a visit to Panther Arena to open the season-ending homestand and Youngstown State invades downtown Milwaukee two nights later (Feb. 22). A potentially huge game looms during the final weekend of play as Valparaiso comes to town February 26 and the Panthers will close out the regular season by playing host to UIC (Feb. 28).

For the first time since 2002, the Horizon League Championship returns to a predetermined site this season and will be held at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, March 5-8.

Milwaukee's nonconference schedule will be released at a later date.

Jeter, who is entering his 11th season as Milwaukee's head coach, welcomes back a very talented cast, including Second Team All-Horizon League forward Matt Tiby, who led the club with 7.8 rebounds per game last season and ranked second with 13.3 points per outing.
