Rechlicz Names Dan Carey Women’s Assistant Coach

Fills vacancy left by Jessica Wilhite’s departure

MILWAUKEE - Dan Carey has been named assistant coach of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team, head coach Kyle Rechlicz announced today.

"Dan worked incredibly hard as our video coordinator and definitely deserves the opportunity to move up to an assistant coach position," Rechlicz said. "His passion for the game and for making UWM a special place to play is contagious. Recruiting is the lifeblood to our program and I know Dan will continue to outwork people for the types of players we need to be successful."

Carey has spent the last two seasons on staff as video coordinator.

"I am so grateful for this opportunity and couldn't be more excited to stay on Coach Rechlicz's staff in this new role," Carey said. "The future is so bright for this program and I couldn't be happier to be here. I look forward to bringing energy, enthusiasm and passion to every aspect of this job."

As video coordinator, Carey was in charge of all film exchange, editing and game breakdown for scouting and highlight video purposes. He also assisted with the administrative side of the program.

Prior to joining the staff under Rechlicz, he had most recently been the head coach of the varsity program at Hamilton High School, developing the girls' team into one of the top programs in the state in his four years. Carey led the Chargers to a pair of Greater Metro Conference championships, the first time in program history Hamilton had won a league title.
