MILWAUKEE (August 10, 2015) – Former Milwaukee point guard
Steve McWhorter (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's/Indiana State) has signed a professional contract to play for Landstede Basketbal Zwolle in Holland in 2015-16. McWhorter, who helped the Panthers to the NCAA Tournament in 2014, averaged team bests of 14.2 points, 4.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game, while also corralling 4.7 rebounds per contest in 2014-15.

During his two-year career at Milwaukee, the 6-foot-2 guard showcased his tremendous leadership skills, helping Milwaukee to 35 total wins, while starting all 65 games in which he appeared. In four years of college eligibility that spanning stints at Indiana State and Milwaukee, McWhorter's teams made three trips to the postseason (2 NCAA Tournaments; 1 College Insider Tournament).
Last season was the best overall effort of McWhorter's spectacular career as he scored in double figures on 25 occasions en route to Second Team All-Horizon League accolades. McWhorter recorded three double-doubles in 2014-15 and was named Horizon League Player of the Week on February 23 after contributing 17.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 6.5 apg and 1.5 spg in victories over UIC and Cleveland State.
McWhorter finished his two-year Milwaukee career with 700 points (10.8 ppg), 286 rebounds (4.4 rpg), 277 assists (4.3 apg), 100 steals (1.5 spg) and 30 blocked shots (0.5 bpg), while shooting 42.2 percent (239-for-567) from the field and 32.7 percent (68-for-208) from three-point range.
Landstede posted a 26-12 overall record a year ago and will open the 2015-16 season on October 2. Training camp opens August 24.
