Jordan Johnson Signs With Milwaukee Men’s Basketball

Point guard was a NJCAA All-American in 2014-15

MILWAUKEE (April 16, 2015) – Jordan Johnson (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan/John Wood CC), a point guard who played the last two seasons at John Wood Community College in Quincy, Ill., has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and play for the men's basketball team, it was announced today by Panthers head coach Rob Jeter. Johnson was a NJCAA First Team All-American in 2014-15 after leading John Wood Community College to the NJCAA Division II national championship game.

"First and foremost, Jordan Johnson is a winner," Jeter said. "He is a tough-as-nails floor general who is going to provide tremendous leadership. A great facilitator who can also score when necessary, Jordan is a true competitor and will be a difference maker for us at both ends of the floor. We are thrilled to add him to our program."

During the 2014-15 campaign, Johnson scored in double figures on 29 occasions, nine times topping the 20-point plateau. The 5-foot-9 guard averaged 15.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game, while shooting 35.2 percent (51-for-145) from three-point range and 82.5 percent (198-for-240) from the free throw line. In a game against Neosho County Community College in January, Johnson recorded a triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He scored a season-high 30 points against Illinois Central College.

Johnson also collected Region 24 Player of the Year and Mid-West Athletic Conference Player of the Year accolades in addition to earning All-America honors in 2014-15. As a freshman in 2013-14, he contributed 13.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.6 apg and 1.4 spg, while draining 44.5 percent (61-for-137) of his three-point tries.

Johnson, who attended Waukegan High School, where he was a teammate of current Panther Akeem Springs, averaged 15.5 ppg and 5.0 apg as a senior with the Bulldogs in 2012-13.

Milwaukee won seven of its final nine contests last season, including each of the last four. The Panthers return six of their top seven scorers from 2014-15, including Second Team All-Horizon League forward Matt Tiby.
