Green And Lindner Earn Horizon League Postseason Honors

Green named first-team all-league

MILWAUKEE - Senior Ashley Green of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team was named to the All-Horizon League First Team today when the league announced its postseason awards as voted on by league coaches, sports information directors and local media.

Jenny Lindner also earned postseason recognition, named a member of the Horizon League All-Freshman Team.

Green is having one of the best seasons statistically in the history of the program, averaging close to 20 points per game (19.5) to go along with a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game. She is in the Top 10 in the league in numerous categories, including points per game (second), rebounds (sixth), minutes played (sixth), field goal percentage (seventh), free throw percentage (eighth) and steals (10th).

The postseason league honor is the first for Green since earning a spot on the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team as a freshman. She is also the first Milwaukee women's basketball player to earn first-team status since Lindsay Laur did so in 2010-11.

Green became just the sixth player to record over 1,500 points in a career and currently sits fourth all-time with 1,618 heading into play tonight. She broke the school record with five games of 30-or-more points this season and still has the opportunity to become the first UWM women's player to reach the combined overall statistical level of 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 250 assists in a career.

Lindner stepped into a starting role immediately and is second on the team with her 10.7 point and 5.2 rebound-per-game averages. She has made 26 starts in 28 games and has scored in double-figures on 15 occasions, the most for a freshman in four seasons. She has a pair of double-doubles on the season and scored 25 points against Youngstown in February – the third-highest scoring output for a freshman in school history.

Lindner was named Horizon League Freshman of the Week on three occasions and led the Panthers from the free throw line this season, sinking 82.6 percent of her attempts from the charity stripe.
