Somers, Wis. –
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams posted 17 personal records in a pair of team wins at the Parkside Classic inside the Petretti Fieldhouse Saturday.

UWM posted comfortable wins on both sides Saturday. The Panther women tallied 148 points for first place, well ahead of UW-Parkside at 108 for second place. The Milwaukee men also came in first in the 10-team field, recording 105 points for a comfortable win.

In all, the Panthers won six events on the day and posted another 10 runner-up finishes on the strong day at the track.

Milwaukee swept both triple jump events on the day. Senior Aaron Dillon cleared 14.59m (47-10 ½) for his best jump in nearly a year. That mark also now stands tops in the Horizon League this season. Freshman Alize Souter took the top spot on the women's side at 10.91m (35-9 ½), just ahead of Melissa Kirchoff (10.65m) for third.

UWM took five of the top-six spots in the women's long jump. Freshman Alisha Harper posted her second win in as many weeks after clearing 5.51m (18-1) for the top spot. Bryzena Santos (5.24m) was second and Kirchoff (5.15m) took third.

It was a similar story in the 55m hurdles. The Panthers had six women in finals and took the top-four spots overall, led by senior Sherice Hewett. Her preliminary time of 8.36 seconds ties her for third all-time in school history.

Freshman Karlie Place tied for the top height in pole vault and moved into eighth all-time in UWM history after clearing 3.45m (11-3 ¾). Mackenzie Nuthals was right behind at 3.00m (9-10), a new PR. Panther coach Katlin Genthe actually won the event on the day competing unattached.

Senior Alex Chollet posted a win in shot put with a toss of 15.63m (51-3 ½) as the top collegiate on the day in the field of 22. Sam Robinson (14.40m) and Silas Petrie (14.04m) were both right behind, also finishing in the top-five.

Chollet then came in second in the weight throw competition. He came close to his own school record and topped out at 18.59m (61-0) for second. Milwaukee throws coach Peter Delzer won the event in a landslide with a toss of 19.65m (64-5 ¾) – over a full foot ahead of the next finisher.

Harper and CherRay Dixon finished 2-3 in the 55m dash. Harper crossed the line at 7.47 for second, with Dixon right on her hip at 7.52 for third.

On the men's side, Davontae Johnson had a strong showing, taking third at 6.63 and freshman Alex Hatlevig was fourth at 6.67. Former Panther Washington Farrington won the event at 6.42 seconds – a new PR – competing unattached.

UWM claimed both gold and silver in the men's mile. Sam Leschisin was first at 4:22.83 as the top college finisher on the day. Tony Sustachek, the defending league outdoor champion in the 1500m, was second at 4:23.99.

The Panthers continued to load up the podium in the 200m. Senior Chelsea Maxey finished second on the women's side at 26.46, while D. Johnson was second on the men's side at 22.63, just ahead of Kyle Becker at 22.73.

Other notable performances on the day came by Ryan Vinhal (2nd, 51.14) and Taylor Koss (3rd, 51.15) in the men's 400m, Annette Lemanski (2nd, 10:25.84) in the women's 3k and Jessie Laabs (2nd, 5:16.95) in the women's mile.

The Panthers will now prep for a trip across Lake Michigan, heading to Allendale, Mich. next Friday-Saturday at the GVSU Big Meet.
