MILWAUKEE - Jordan Johnson of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Â
The honor is the second of the junior guard's career, with both coming in the past three weeks.
In addition to the conference honor, Johnson has added Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week honors and College Sports Madness League Player of the Week accolades to his resume today.
Â
Johnson was everywhere in the victory over Minnesota Dec. 23, coming up just one rebound short of a triple-double when he finished with 19 points, 10 assists and nine boards.
Â
Had he been able to grab one more rebound, it would have marked the fourth triple-double all-time in program history and the first since Kaylon Williams put up 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Butler January 4, 2011.
Â
Johnson continues to pace the nation with 104 total assists and remains second with 8.0 assists per game. He leads the Horizon League and is 38
th in the country with his 3.2 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Â
The Panthers return to the court Saturday, opening Horizon League play downtown against Wright State. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
