MILWAUKEE - Jordan Johnson of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Â
The honor is a career-first for the junior guard.
Â
Johnson played a key role in both of Milwaukee's victories last week, but in very different ways.
Â
Against Wisconsin Johnson did it all, scoring 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting, featuring a perfect 8-for-8 showing from the free throw line in 39 minutes. He added four assists and a steal as the Panthers memorably knocked off the Badgers for the first time since 1992.
Â
Then, against Judson Sunday, Johnson did not even attempt a field goal in his 23 minutes of action, directing the offense brilliantly in a record-setting first half on the scoreboard. He ended the afternoon with nine assists and zero turnovers.
Â
He starts the week ranking first at the NCAA Division I level with 88 total assists and third in assists-per-game at 8.0 in 11 contests. Johnson shared the league honor with Oakland's Kay Felder.
