Tiby Named To Preseason All-Horizon League First Team

Panthers picked to finish third in 2015-16 league race

MILWAUKEE (October 14, 2015) – Senior Matt Tiby was been named to the 2015-16 Men's Basketball Preseason All-Horizon League First Team it was announced today at the conference's annual media day at the Hilton Rosemont Chicago O'Hare in Rosemont, Ill.
 
A Second Team All-Horizon League honoree in 2014-15, Tiby was named to the Preseason All-League First Team this season. The 6-foot-8 forward is the team's leading returning scorer and rebounder from a season ago with 13.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game and enters this season having scored in double figures in 21 consecutive contests, the longest stretch by a Panther since Joah Tucker in 2005-06 (27 games).
 
Tiby, who recorded seven double-doubles in 2014-15, the most by a Milwaukee player since Adrian Tigert in 2005-06, finished the year with a flourish, averaging 23.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg, while shooting a staggering 65 percent (13-for-20) from the field and 80 percent (8-for-10) from three-point territory over the final two games.
 
Joining Tiby on the Preseason All-Horizon League First Team was Preseason Player of the Year Kahlil Felder (Oakland), Alec Peters (Valparaiso), Paris Bass (Detroit) and Jordan Fouse (Green Bay).
 
As a team, Milwaukee was slated to finish third, just behind defending champion Valparaiso and Oakland, in the preseason poll of league coaches, sports information directors and media. The Panthers finished last season by claiming seven of their final nine contests, including each of the last four, and wrapped up Horizon League play with a 9-7 ledger.
 
Rounding out the predicted order of finish was Detroit, Wright State, Green Bay, Cleveland State, UIC, Youngstown State and Northern Kentucky.
