Busby Earns Second-Team All-American Honors

June 7, 2012

Des Moines, Iowa - Durell Busby of the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee track & field team earned All-America Second-Team honors after finishing 12th in the 110m hurdles at the NCAA Championships at historic Drake Stadium Thursday, bringing Milwaukee's 2012 outdoor season to a close.

The junior just missed earning a spot in Saturday's finals, finishing fifth in his heat with a time of 13.77 in what proved to be the toughest heat as the top four finishers advanced. He finished 12th overall, earning Second-Team All-American honors. He is UWM's third Division I All-American after junior Samia Taylor became the second last year after taking 18th in triple jump. Overall, he is the 60th All-American in school history.

"What a spectacular season for Durell and we're all very proud of him," Milwaukee head coach Pete Corfeld said. "Obviously it is disappointing he wasn't able to advance, but the cool part is his season isn't over. We're excited to see how he does in two weeks and he's only going to get better from here."

Two weeks ago, Busby earned his Olympic trial time for his home nation of Trinidad & Tobago. He will run in Port of Spain, Trinidad on Saturday, June 23 trying to earn a berth to this year's summer Olympics in London.
